World Book Day 2023

On Thursday 2nd March, we celebrated World Book Day.  We brought in our homework which were our illustrations from a favourite book.  The teacher displayed the illustrations and the we had to guess which book they came from.  The teacher was very impressed with our creativity and drawing skills.

Next, we swapped books and were given a little time to read our new book.

We watched a programme on BBC Teach which celebrated World Book Day and this year, it had the theme of encouraging us to rewrite a familiar story but then add our own twist.

Finally we listened to the introduction of a new book by Lenny Henry "Book of Legends" - one of the highlighted authors for World Book Day 2023

We listened to Mrs Miskelly's favourite children's poem by Michael Rosen - "Chocolate Cake".  It was very funny!

Maths week continued indoors, due to the inclement weather. Area and perimeter done and dusted.

Day 1 Length Week: A blustery day to be out, but P6&7 enjoyed measuring a range of objects around our playground and garden. P6 focused on estimating and measuring in metres and centimetres, converting between metric units up to 2 decimal places. P7 measured our garden, scaled down their results and created a map of the area.

What a busy day today! We went on our Autumn walk through the fields and down to the river. What beautiful nature we have on our doorstep. Nearing break time some couldn't resist having a snack on the move. Later on in the day we enjoyed a session from Richard on stretching our resilience. Some great ideas that we will put into practice throughout the year.
