Construction Topic
Today we had a visit from ‘Gareth the builder’! Gareth taught us lots about building houses.
First he showed us plans, we studied them and found different rooms, windows, doors, stairs and where the toilet was! We even had to follow a plan to build a house with Lego.
Gareth then showed us how to use a tape measure to measure lots of items like our shoe, desk, pencil and ourselves. He told us that a builder needed to measure to make sure the walls were the right length.
Gareth then talked about the safety clothing he needs to wear like a high-vis vest, steel toe capped boots and a hard hat. Then he showed us how to build a wall with bricks and cement and how to keep it level and straight. We had a competition to see which team was the best! Everyone really enjoyed the morning and we may have some expert builders of the future in P2 and P3! Thank you Gareth 👏🏻
We have been learning about where chocolate comes from, how it is made and what flavours there can be! Yum!
We tasted different flavours - orange, mint, white, dark chocolate with ginger and of course milk chocolate!
So today we had a chocolate day, we made our own sweets using a mould and had some delicious hot chocolate.
