Our topic has been 'Construction'.

Gareth is a builder and he came into our classroom and told us all about his job. He constructs houses and other buildings.

Gareth showed us house plans and told us all about the jobs an architect has to. We looked at ground plans, floor plans and first floor plans. We had to find different places on the plans and find where the architect had drawn the pipes for drainage.

Gareth showed us the safety gear a builder wears and some of the tools a builder uses. He explained that a spirit level is to make sure the bricks are level and straight. The bubble has to be in the middle.

Gareth gave us a simple plan and we had to try and follow it and build a house using Lego.

Once we had the basics, Gareth showed us how to build a wall using cement. We all had a go. The blocks had to sit in a bed of cement. We even got to put insulation in the wall, insulation keeps the heat in.

We had great fun learning all about Gareth's job.

Thank you very much Gareth.

Construction

Learning about construction through play. What fun we have had!

Our science experiment. Teddy is building a new house and he wanted to know which materials will keep him dry. 😊We worked in groups to investigate which materials are waterproof.

We have been learning how to program the Beebot to move from one location to another.

We love practical maths lessons and getting our hands wet! We have been learning about capacity.

Primary 3 Problem Solving- How many different ways can we arrange the red and blue train carriages? How will we record them?

How many ways can we make 8p?
