September / October

The Importance of Recycling

On the 5th September, we listened to the importance of recycling from the Newry and Mourne District Council.  Our school is really good at recycling but we're trying to get even better!

The NSPCC Talk

On the 12th September the NSPCC came to school and did an internet safety workshop with our class.  We really enjoyed it and gained a lot of useful information from it.  We learnt that we must "STOP...BLOCK... and TELL" if we come across anything on the internet that makes us feel uncomfortable.  To raise money for the NSPCC, we decided to do a "Dance-a-thon" - this was great fun and even the teachers joined in!

Spanish Lessons

Every Thursday morning we receive a Spanish lesson from our teacher, Marianna.  Already she has taught us lots of Spanish, including shop names, food items, job names and emotions.  We are becoming more and more fluent every week.

Maths Week - 16th -  20th October

Unfortunately Maths week was cut short due to Storm Ophelia.  However we did try to have lots of fun in our Maths, as we always do.  In Maths Week, this year, we decided to concentrate on Target Boards.  The challenges were tough but we felt proud of ourselves when we got the right answer.

Ian Jackson

On the 12th October, illustrator Ian Jackson presented an illustrating workshop for P6/7.  We illustrated pictures for three nursery stories using an app on the computers.  In the afternoon we presented our illustrations to the rest of the school.  it was a brilliant, creative day!

The PSNI Talk

On Monday 23rd October, the PSNI visited our school.  They talked to us about keeping safe on-line, keeping safe around fireworks and what to do in an emergency.

School finished at 12 midday on the 27th October.  It is safe to say that we had a very busy but enjoyable two months of term and now we are all going to enjoy our break before school begins again in November!
