Our Busy First Week

We've had a really busy first week in Primary 1 and we have been getting up to lots of fun activities in school.  This week our stories were all Julia Donalson stories.  We enjoyed listening to the rhyming stories and completing lots of arts and crafts based on the Gruffalo, A squash and a Squeeze, The Smartest Giant in Town and Monkey Puzzle.  These stories are great to read again and again, the children loved the rhyming patterns in the stories.

Look out below at what else we have been up to this week.

The weather this week has been a bit mixed with a couple of very wet days but we try to get outdoors as much as we can because we love learning outside.

One thing we were looking forward to playing with at school was the playdough. We have been able to have our own bits of play dough to play with as we still play together at the table. Look at some of the creations that we made with our playdough this week. We took our own pictures using the ipad.

This week we had our very first bucket school lesson outdoors. This is a new thing for us but we really enjoyed it. Thanks to Fane Valley Altnamackin for supplying our buckets for our bucket school. We had great fun doing some of our number rhymes and clapping outdoors using our buckets to provide seating in our outdoor classroom. We can't wait for another lesson at bucket school next week.

Each Friday in P1 is problem solving Friday. On our very first week we decided to make it Puzzle Friday where we got out all the puzzles that we have in our classroom and worked together to build the puzzles. Some of the puzzles were tricky but we worked hard to work them out.
