Primary 4/5

Welcome to Primary 4/5!

We are a very busy class, we work hard and most importantly we always try our best!  Mrs Rice teaches  P4/5. On a Monday some of take part in music lessons, we play the piano with Charlotte and woodwind instruments with Richard.  We are a very talented bunch!  On Tuesdays we develop our football skills with Chris Chambers Coaching, we really enjoy it!  Also every other Tuesday the library van visits and we love to get our new books.  Tuesday is also toast day when you can bring along 10p and have toast for break. Wednesdays and Thursdays are quieter days! We have Art with Mrs Preston between 2-3pm on Wednesdays and RE with Mrs Hughes Thursdays between 2-3pm.  On Friday we develop our hockey skills with Christine Russell, we are improving every week.  We also have our achievement assembly on Friday when we celebrate our successes! We then sing our hearts out with Gemma, who is a fabulous singer and teacher!

On Thursday 13th October, we sent 5 of our Primary 5s to the Kingsmills hockey tournament in Newtownhamilton.  Their fantastic contribution means that we now have another piece of silverware sitting proudly at Reception! Well done everyone!

Naomi met Arlene Foster, Northern Ireland's first minister at Stormont. Naomi and James from P7 were presented with certificates for their fiddle playing. James invited her to visit our school! Wouldn't that be great! Well done to both of you!

Maths week ran from 17th-21st October. We completed lots of practical, fun, measuring activities. Learning whilst having fun!

Matthew achieved his gold award at swimming. Well done! We are very proud of him. He had lots of tricky elements to complete. Good job Matthew!

On Friday 21st October primary 4/5 travelled to the Sean Hollywood Art Centre in Newry. We watched a performance by The Graffiti Orchestra. They were a string quartet who played classical music in an interactive, fun way. By the end we all agreed we really liked classical music!

Colin from Newtownhamilton Fire Station came to visit us. He brought us very useful packs and delivered a very important fire safety message. Please keep safe.

Zoolab came to school and talked to Primary 4/5 about the rainforest. We got to look at, touch and hold lots of animals that would be found there. Some of us enjoyed it more than others!

To finish our work on the skeleton we made gingerbread skeletons, we had great fun and they look and taste delicious!

The weather has been beautiful and we decided to get outside to paint with watercolours. We have been looking at the work of the artist Claude Monet.

We were very privileged to have 2 Ulster players visit school today and we all enjoyed our coaching session with Paul Marshall and Clive Ross!
